501 S. Almaden Avenue

Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA) proposes to develop 501 S. Almaden Avenue, a new 53-unit affordable housing project for low-income families in Downtown San José. The proposed development is located next door to another SAHA project, Arya, an 87-unit multifamily development that will complete construction in summer 2023. Both developments are well located with respect to local services, amenities, and public transit in Downtown San José.

501 S. Almaden Avenue is currently a paved parking lot that SAHA purchased in May 2021. Branagh Inc., the contractor for Arya, is currently using the lot for construction staging activities. Affordable housing development on the site would transform an underutilized parking lot and the proximity to Arya will provide the opportunity to foster community between both properties.

SAHA is working with Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects (LMSA) to secure the project’s development permit, with a planned construction start in late 2025.
